The Internet is an amazing place.

Unfortunately, the bad guys know that too.

Here are some reminders and current security issues worth knowing about.

DATA BREACHES AREN'T SLOWING DOWN

Organizations continue dealing with attacks involving stolen credentials, social engineering, exposed files and compromised accounts.

Recent incidents have again demonstrated an important lesson:

Attackers don't always need some brilliant technical exploit.

Sometimes they simply convince ONE person to give them access.

============================================================================== PROTECT YOUR ACCOUNTS

1. USE MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION

If an account supports MFA or passkeys, use them.

A stolen password is much less useful when an attacker still can't
complete the login.

2. STOP REUSING PASSWORDS

One password should NEVER unlock your entire digital life.

Use a password manager and generate unique passwords.

3. WATCH FOR PHISHING

Don't automatically trust:

"Your account has been suspended!"

"You have an unpaid invoice!"

"Your package couldn't be delivered!"

"Click immediately to verify your account!"

Urgency is one of a scammer's favorite weapons.

4. KEEP YOUR SOFTWARE UPDATED

Operating systems, browsers, routers, phones and applications all need
security updates.

That ancient router in the closet counts too.

5. BACK UP YOUR DATA

A backup you haven't tested isn't really a backup.

For important files, remember the classic 3-2-1 idea:

3 copies of your data
2 different types of storage
1 copy stored off-site

Think before giving an app permission to access:

Your location
Your microphone
Your camera
Your contacts
Your photos
Your files

Ask yourself:

Technology can block millions of attacks.

But YOU are still one of the most important parts of your security.

Slow down.
Read before clicking.
Verify unexpected requests.
Use MFA.
Install updates.
Keep backups.
